Accessibility Statement

This statement was last updated in May 2024 and applies to the Anatomy.tv website

We are committed to making our products accessible to as wide an audience as possible, including users with visual, hearing, cognitive and motor impairments and will be working hard to improve our accessibility over the next few years.

We’re aiming to meet the most up-to-date version of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)

What we are doing

The improvements outlined in the rest of this document will be implemented for the following Anatomy.tv services:

  • The Human Anatomy and Physiology product accessed via Anatomy.tv
  • The Anatomy.tv platform
  • The 3D Real-time product accessed via Anatomy.tv

Accessibility improvements will include the following where appropriate

Keyboard shortcuts

A limited number of keyboard shortcuts are currently available in our 3D Real-time product. We will be adding new keyboard controls to Anatomy.tv and Human Anatomy and Physiology to align with WCAG 2.2. guidelines.

Keyboard navigation

We will be updating the keyboard navigation so that all content on Anatomy.tv is accessible via keyboard controls in a logical and consistent order.

The appearance of the keyboard focus indicator will be changed so it is more visible.

Screen readers

We will update the mentioned services to ensure they are compatible with the most common screen readers on the market. Alternative text will be added to all applicable images, slides, and animations. The purpose of user interface (UI) controls, form elements, buttons and links will be clearly labeled. The screen reader functionality will be as consistent as possible between the mentioned services.

User interface

All our services compatible with modern browsers (except for PALMs, Real-time Dentistry and Real-time Functional Anatomy) are currently mobile optimized. This allows text to rearrange on these devices, and they can be viewed in portrait and landscape. Within all these products, the highlight color and background color of the 3D views can be altered.

In the 3D Real-time product, the highlight color and background color in addition to text size, UI scaling and resolution can be altered. In our updates, Anatomy.tv and Human Anatomy and Physiology will also include these, the contrast ratio between the text and background will be corrected and text will be able to be resized up to 200%.

Further updates will also ensure that error messages across the mentioned services are correctly identified, and the location within the site is made clear to users.

Additional updates

Within the index of the services mentioned, updates will include the completion of a pronunciation guide to identify the correct pronunciation and definition of unusual words.

We will ensure that the animations and PDFs comply with the WCAG 2.2 guidelines. Animation updates will include the addition of closed captions, and text transcripts, and users will have the option to disable motion animations.
